Physical and chemical character: Colorless cubic crystal. It is a white crystal in state of multiple-hole, grain or honeycomb, smell less and taste bitter. Its aqueous solution is in the state of slight acidity. It is dissolvable in alcohol, acetone and acetic acid. Reacting with ammonia or ethanol to generate CaCl2  8NH3 and CaCl2  4C2H5OH complex compounds. Its aqueous solution separates out six-water substance under normal temperature, gradually heating up to 30 , it will dissolve in its crystal water, continue heating up till desiccation, it turns into two-water substance when the temperature reaching to 200 , up to 260 , it turns into white multiple-hole anhydrous calcium chlorid.
