Others -- ST Oxygen probe
Description:
The carbon sensor is really an oxygen sensor. The primary mechanism for electrical current flow in many ceramic electrolytes is ionic conduction, in this case via oxygen ions.
Every ST probes use a SIRO2 Oxygen Sensor. The SIRO2 Oxygen Sensor is a solid-state, solid electrolyte oxygen concentration cell developed by the Division of Materials CSIRO, Australia, to enable in-situ measurements of the oxygen content or the equilibrium oxygen partial pressure in gas mixtures above 700C.
The sensor consists of an impervious alumina tube containing a zirconium oxide-based cell at one end (Figure1). The special cell composition is the subject of further Australian and international patents.
