Description: JWT Sample Coolers are designed for use with on-line process analyzers, to reduce the sample temperature to a level acceptable for the instrument. They are compact, inexpensive, and designed for years of trouble-free
service.
The coolers are a coiled tube-in-shell design, with counterflow
design. Counterflow means that the cooling
water enters the shell at the same end that the sample is leaving, thus giving you the lowest sample temperature possible.
Cooler Efficiency
Sample coolers need to be designed (and constructed) properly in order to achieve the best efficiency. Efficiency for coolers usually means the approach temperature, which is the temperature difference between the cooling
water entering the
cooler and the sample leaving the
cooler. In order to improve the efficiency, our coolers have an inner
tube that increases the cooling
water flow rate (hence turbulence) across the cooling tubes. Therefore, efficiency is improved, resulting in lower final sample temperature and/or less cooling
water being required.
Cooler Size
We offer 2 sample coolers, one with 3MM OD tubing, and the other with 6MM OD tubing. The 3MM OD tubing is perfect for those applications where you only need to
cool enough sample for an analyzer (typical flow of 200-250 ccm). Although the 3MM tubing has better heat removal efficiency than 6MM tubing, its limited in capacity due to the shorter length of tube, and is not suitable for cooling steam samples. (Longer tubes would increase the pressure drop to an unacceptable level.) By offering a
cooler with 3MM tube, we keep the cost low by not forcing you to buy a
cooler thats much more than your application demands. (Such as the 6MM
cooler.)
The 6MM coolers can be used for steam and hot
water samples, and have enough capacity to
cool a high temperature sample to within 3C of the cooling
water temperature, up to approximately 800 ccm of sample flow. They are perfect for systems where you need enough sample f
