Description:
Fructose-1,6-diphosphate (FDP) a naturally occurring sugar-phosphate molecule, contains phosphate groups bonded to the No.1 and 6 carbon atoms of the fructose molecule. The -D-form of this compound is the only biological active isomer of fructose-1,6-diphophate in cells. FDP acts as an intermediate during the series of reactions that make up glycolysis, and plays an important role in regulation of glycolysis.
