Description: A very very slightly different shade of grey was used in the Black/Cement Greys, particularly on the
plastic shoe lace anchor on top of the forefoot area and at the end of the
plastic side support straps. Keep in mind that I'm comparing them as I type to my original pair from 1989 so the
plastic may have oxidized with time.
Probably the biggest, most noticeable difference in these retros is the length of the tongue. To describe the length of the tongue, JumpmanSt could not have said it better when he blurted out "These tongues come up to your knees!" Indeed Alex is correct in his description. These retros do have a distinctly longer tongue and while to some who might not care, aficionados like myself shake their heads in dismay.
Disappointed? A little.
Can you buy my pairs? Get real.
Any other colors re-released? Plenty.
Nike would later retro the white/grey (original color) and three new color schemes dubbed "Retro +". A white/midnight navy with a touch of Columbia Blue starts off the Retro + formats, followed by an all white/chrome "Quick Strike" version affectionately called "Bling Blings." Riding out the Retro + colors was the black/cool grey with a somewhat disappointing sales review.
