igure 1. Visible above is the beautifully designed outsole of the Air Jordan XIX. Bordering the main body of the outsole is a ring of rubber in the form of an infinity symbol, which juts out at both the forefoot and heel to form prominent outriggers that help enhance stability. Note that the part of the ring under the outriggers, which is made of a highly polished, translucent "sticky" rubber, is marked by 19 flex grooves ? a wonderful little design touch
figure 2. In this shot of the Air Jordan XIX you can see that the entire toe is covered with a shiny patent leather. The non-stretch patent material provides some visual flair, while also enhancing performance by preventing your forefoot from sliding off the footbed during hard cuts.
figure 3. This shot provides a good look at both sides of the Air Jordan XIX's midsole at the forefoot. Note that the lateral, or outer, side features a large, but flexible outrigger, while the medial, or inner, side is rounded off. This combination maximizes both stabilty and agilty, and helps give the XIX a solid, but entirely natural feel underfoot.

The chromed Jumpman emblem inset into the lateral side of the Air Jordan XIX's heel strap is a great example of the attention to detail displayed in the shoe (it's visible close-up in the feature image at the start of this review). On the whole, the shoe's design is simple, but its numerous details set it apart.
figure 5. This heel shot provides a good look at the prominent outrigger built into the heel on the medial side of the Air Jordan XIX. A couple of details worth noting here are the pull-tab, which is made of the same Tech Flex material that covers the laces, and the script on the heel strap, which reads "nineteen" on the right shoe, and "jordan" on the left.
