It is forecast that the Chinese income increase will continue to fuel demand for alcohol and wine and to lead the industry in growth. The total market demand for alcohol and wine will increase 6.4％ annually to 5 million metric tons in the year 2006. These years, the imports of foreign alcohol and wine increase became to slow. In 2001, the country imported 25,000 metric tons of foreign alcohol and wine. It is forecast that in 2006, the number will come to 28,000 metric tons, growing by 2.2％ annually. Output of alcohol and wine reached 3.64 million metric tons in 2001 and will advance to 4.97 million metric tons by 2006, increasing by 6.4％ per annum. "
