capsicum

" Capsicum is a genus of plants from the nightshade family (Solanaceae). Some of the members of capsicum are used as spices, vegetables, and medicines. There is an export potential for capsicum with fresh appearance and yellowish green colour. Also, the fruits should be uniform in size and shape with free of insect damage. Capsicums originated in Central and South America, but are now grown worldwide. Capsicums are grown mainly in Shanxi Province, Guizhouo Province, Hunan Province, and Sichuan Province of China. More than 90% of capsicums in Japan are imported from China. Because of deficit capsicum production in China, the price of capsicum increase 40%~80% as 2003. The latest export price of capsicum, which is for making barbecue juice, has increased to 2700 US Dollars per ton, highest in 8 years. And the price of capsicum, which is for making seasoning, has increased 40% by sharply increasing consumption in China market. Affected by the weather, the China capsicum production of 2007 was predicted lower than 2006, and the price would be more expensive, but not very much."
