diesel engine

" With diesel being able to lower fuel consumption by 20 to 30 per cent and reduce emissions by 90 per cent, diesel autos have enjoyed a strong market presence in Western countries. In 2004, 50 per cent of new cars were powered by diesel in European countries. And in France, Italy and Germany, diesel-engine sedans account for 72, 66 and 43 per cent respectively, of the sedan market. Furthermore, sales volumes of diesel-powered cars in the United States increased by 56 per cent in 2004. In 2005 some 49% of new cars registered were diesel powered. During recent years, the diesel industry in China has achieved great development with a relative great increase in the production, marketing amount and exporting amount. Diesel technology has gained remarkable effects in saving energy in China, where there is still bigger market potential to explore. China's diesel engine production technology owns more self-developed intellectual property rights than gasoline engine production technology and is close to international levels. The seven major automobile diesel engine producers who account for more than 90 per cent of the domestic market share have many achievements to their credit. At the same time, overseas diesel engine makers are casting their eyes on China's huge market potential."
