Wooden barrels have been used for centuries as containers to store and move food and drink. The 'Coopers' or barrel-makers are used almost exclusively in the production of fine wines and spirits. The bulge, or bilge, of barrels means that they can be rolled and spun easily, & that, when they are kept horizontal, any sediment naturally collects in one place. The forest products trade deficit of China is dwindling as the country focuses on imports of resource products and exports of high value-added downstream and labor‑intensive products for which China enjoys comparative advantage. The value of forest products trade was US$32.3 billion in 2004, up 25% from 2003. Of the total, exports accounted for US$16 billion (up 34%), while imports accounted for US$16.34 billion (up 18%). The trade deficit of forest products in 2004 was US$346 million, a year on year decrease of over US$1.6 billion. China furniture industry has made a remarkable progress as well as the whole industry level. In 2006, the furniture industry still enjoyed a boom in production and sales, and the finished-product output, sales revenue and profit all experienced a dramatic increase. At the same time, wooden barrel industry also had great progress.
