glue
The development of the automobile industry and the building industry as pillar industries in China is closely related to the glue industry. The sales revenue of the world's glues and sealants reached 16.3 billion U.S. dollars in 1992. The average annual output of glues in the world is expected to grow by 2.5-3.0% before 1997. Regions with fast growth include developing countries in the Far East and Latin America. The output value of 1992 was 5.4 billion RMB yuan and the output was 2.4 million tons in China. Of the total, the output of synthetic glues amounted to 840 000 tons with an output value of 3.7 billion RMB yuan, an increase of 687 000 tons over 1988, a high growth rate. The China National glue Industry Association reported recently that the glue output of China in 2001 was 2.61 million tons, an increase of 7.4% over 2000 (The number given by the Statistics Bureau of China is only 0.6 million tons in 2002). The total glue sales revenue has increased to RMB18 billion in 2001. China has over 2000 glue manufacturers now, most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. The glue industry is moving towards environmentally friendly products.
