resistor

A resistor is the component in an electrical circuit designed to introduce a known resistance to the flow of current. Resistance changes with temperature rise, increasing in metals, and falling in semiconductors. It also varies with the size of the conductor, rising as it becomes longer or thinner. In general, a resistor is used to create a known voltage-to-current ratio in an electric circuit. If the current in a circuit is known, then a resistor can be used to create a known potential difference proportional to that current. Conversely, if the potential difference between two points in a circuit is known, a resistor can be used to create a known current proportional to that difference. Dynamics and trends of Chinese resistor market in 2006 are presented while drivers and inhibitors of future growth and development are scrutinized.
