doors & windows

Robust growth in China s building construction industry will boost doors & windows demand up 11.3 percent annually to 128.5 billion yuan in 2009. International doors & windows manufacturers and distributors recognize the tremendous market potential that China offers. However, planning for expansion into China is difficult due to the lack of reliable market information.
Windows and doors made of vinyl, fiberglass, and wood-plastic composites will continue to make inroads against metal and wood products, with demand increasing over 16 percent annually through 2009. Plastic windows and doors enjoy the advantages high energy efficiency, low maintenance requirements and relatively low costs. Use of plastic windows and doors is also strongly promoted by the Chinese government. Metal windows and doors, accounting for nearly three quarters of the Chinese doors & windows market in the 1990s, will remain the largest product category through 2009 and beyond, thanks to the product category s strong position in the nonresidential building market segment. Demand for wood windows and doors projected to rise nearly eleven percent through 2009, outpacing metal but lagging plastic and the overall market, primarily benefiting from a growing market for high-end single-family homes in China s well-to-do coastal areas and such urban centers as Beijing and Shanghai.
