beef
Chinese people ate as much beef as they had done before this year, regardless the danger of "mad cow disease" which has been sweeping the Europe and even hitting Japan. China produces about 60 million tons of meat every year, the largest output in the world, but only one percent is exported overseas, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. The situation, featuring the failure of China's beef products to knock open the door of Europe then infested with Mad Cow disease, will soon come to an end. A new production line of European Union (EU) standard will be installed and go into operations in Tongliao city of Inner Mongolia next March, by the time, China's beef products will be able to go into the European market. The Horqin prairie of Inner Mongolia is a famous "land of cattle". The improved breed "Horqin cattle" is good material for superior-quality dishes with its tender meat, high protein and medium fat. It is the first and only one beef product awarded the certificate of "Green Food" this April. However, China's beef products must meet the EU hygienic standard before they can enter the European market.
