"An air curtain is a method of containing oil spills. Air bubbling through a perforated pipe causes an upward water flow that slows the spread of oil. It can also be used to stop fish from entering polluted water. Wind is the factor that has the greatest effect on the function of air curtain. Therefore it is recommended to make every effort to achieve as good as possible protection of the door opening from the direct impact of wind. Air curtains supplying the air from up are not recommended in warm industrial halls due to considerable risk of draft. They are recommended for cold storage rooms. Air curtains providing the air from side (sides) require constructional improvements. Applicability of this solution is limited by the direction of opening the door. From the viewpoint of comfort and energy consumption the best solution is the air curtain supplying the air from down. However, it is not recommended to be applied in door openings meant for human traffic. "
