In 2003, the total production value of Chinese packaging industry (including packaging materials)was over 270 billion RMB with paper packaging 86.64billion RMB, plastic packaging 76.42 billion RMB, metal packaging 20.76 billion RMB, packaging printing 54.23 billion RMB, packaging machinery 15.86 billion RMB and others 8.02 billion RMB. By 2005, paper packaging will be 36 million tons, plastic packaging will be 9.46 million, metal packaging 4.91 million, plastic packaging 15.5 million tons and packaging machinery reaching 1.2 million sets. Restructure in the packaging industry will see more high quality exported packaging material and machinery to meet the fast growing consumer market and the environment protective requirements.
