China is the leading brass hardware producer. U.S. exports of brass hardware increased 7.2 percent in March compared with the same month last year while imports fell 17.3 percent, according to the latest figures from the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council. U.S. exports totaled 32,839,454 pounds in March vs. 30,626,274 pounds a year earlier. China was the leading destination, taking 13,066,171 pounds, followed by Mexico at 11,747,118 pounds, according to the Washington-based trade group. U.S. imports of brass hardware totaled 51,561,667 pounds in March compared with 62,376,481 pounds in March 2004.
