According to different function, electromagnet has two categories: Standard electromagnet and permanent electromagnet. Standard electromagnet has magnetic field on the contact surface when its coil is connected to electric current, so it can hold ferrous materials; When it′s disconnected with electric current, magnetic field disappeared and it release object. It′s ON to hold and OFF to release. Permanent electromagnet (also called Opposite electromagnet) is assembled with permanent magnet inside and always has magnetic field on the contact surface, so it can hold ferrous material without electric current; However, when the current is applied to the coil, an equal magnetic field is produced with the opposite polarity of permanent magnet, thereby neutralizing all magnetic attraction, and it release object.
