7. The length of the Tapcon bit to use must be long enough to ensure that the hole drilled into the base material is 1/2" deeper than the Tapcon screw will penetrate the base material. For installing 3/16" Tapcon fasteners, use a 5/32" Tapcon drill bit, For installing 1/4" Tapcon fasteners, use a 3/16" Tapcon drill bit.
