Boron Rock Dehydration and Calcination
Introduction:
Working with Liaoning Fengcheng Boron Rock Powders Corp., we conducted numerous studies and experiments on low-grade paigeite excitation and calcination to design a new process: flash calcination. The excitation rate of the calcined product is significantly higher than that of the calcined product from the conventional rotary kiln. For example, paigeite of grade 10% or higher can be calcined to reach an excitation rate of 90% or better; Paigeite with grades ranging from 6% to 10% can be calcined to reach an excitation rate of 80% to 85%.
There were no large-scale industrial calcination facilities for low-grade paigeite at the time. Most of the material was discarded and piled up, causing much waste and pollution. A small number of manufacturers use rotary kilns to calcine boron rock powders, however, the products from the rotary kilns usually possess lower excitation and extraction rates, and the system consumes more energy, resulting in a lower thermal efficiency. However, it is probable to obtain the high grade and high excitation rate boron rock powders using Dongda Powder's dynamic dehydration and calcination equipment. This boron rock powder flash calciner is characterized by its high energy efficiency, polluton-free nature, high recovery rate, small floor area, and high degree of automation.
Working principle:
Utilizing screw feeder to convey wet boron rock powders into the Sid Dryer. The heat is from the hot tail gas produced in the calcination process; dry material and gas enter the gas-solid seperator, the seperated solid is sent into the calciner for excitation calcination. The working medium of calcination is the hot flue gas (temperature 1000~1050 ºC) from the direct fire heating hot blast stove. The material goes through the excitation calcination of quick heat and mass transfer in several seconds, being separated and cooled, enters the silo.
Features and performance:
1. Convenient operation, short calcination. The whole process is completed within tens of seconds.
2. Because the recovery to the tail gas, the total energy consumption is lower.
3. Product gets high activity. If boron concentrate B2O3's grade ≥ 7.5%, calcination activity can reach 80%~90%.
4. Including exhaust purification apparatus, hence a lower pollution.
5. Small floor area, convenient maintenance.
