Product Description

Product Description

Chemical formula: C12H26O (can also be expressed as CHO, but C12H26O is more specific and accurate)
Molecular weight: 186.3364
CAS No.: 112-53-8
Appearance and properties: usually white solid or colourless to light yellow oily liquid, with floral fragrance.
II. Physicochemical properties
Melting point: Depending on the specific conditions, the melting point may be between 22~27ºC.
Boiling point: usually in the range of 255~265ºC.
Relative density: slightly less than water, the specific value is affected by temperature.
Solubility: Insoluble in water and glycerol, but soluble in organic solvents such as propylene glycol, ethanol, benzene, chloroform and ether.
III. Preparation method
Dodecanol is mainly made from coconut oil (also palm oil and tallow) into lauric acid, and then catalytic hydrogenation. The specific process may include different processes such as high-pressure hydrogenation or esterification hydrogenation.
IV. Main Uses
Surfactant: Dodecanol is the main raw material for manufacturing anionic, cationic and non-ionic surfactants, such as sodium fatty alcohol ether sulfate, K12, AEO, etc. These surfactants are widely used in detergents, shampoos, emulsifiers, lubrication additives and other fields.
Flavour: Due to the aroma of moon and violet, dodecanol can be used to make rose-type, violet-type and lily daffodil-type flavours for cosmetics, food and spice industries.
Pharmaceuticals: Dodecanol and its derivatives can also be used as pharmaceutical excipients, commonly used in the preparation of ointments and creams.
