It is colorless rhombic or monoclinic crystals or white crystalline powder.The relative density is 1.58 and the melting point is at 107.5ºC.It is  easily soluble in the water,readily forming an alksline solution.(The density of saturated solution is 11,.9/g100ml at 0 ºC and 27g/100ml at 30ºC) The PH value of 0.08%solution is 7.8.It issolution in glycerin.It decomposes into carbon dioide and ammonia.Its hygroscopicity is strong and after moisture-absorbing it gives of the irritating smell of ammonia which is not present when the material is dry. It easily effloresces in the air.

 

(1) It can be used as nitrogen fertilizer, it is suitable for all kinds of soil. It can provide ammonium  nitrogen and carbon dioxide which are needed by crop growth. But the nitrogen content is low, and it is easy to cake.
(2) It can be used as analytical reagent, also used in synthetic fabrics and ammonium skim.
(3) It can promote crop growth and photosynthesis, as well as used as food expansion agent.
(4) It can be used as high-grade food fermentation agent. Share with baking soda be used as bread, biscuit, battercake etc leavening agent materials, also be used as foaming powder juice raw material. And be used for green vegetable , bamboo shoot etc scald bleaching, medicine and reagent.
