Humidity Indicator Plugs are designed for mounting on reusable or long-term storage containers, in flexible barrier material, in moisture-sensitive electronic or optical equipment, or in any other humidity controlled enclosure. They readily detect charges in the relative humidity of the space being monitored by one of two means: Reversible Color-Change and Maximum Humidity Indicator.

It can detect anywhere from 5 to 95 percent relative humidity and are available in a range of sizes and configurations to meet your specific requirements. Industry applications include: mili tary, radar and night vision instrumentation, aerospace, metals, transportation systems, hydraulic systems and electronic equipment.

Humidity indicator plugs are designed to indicate the relative humidity level within a sealed container without users having to open it. With humidity indicator plugs, users can visually inspect the humidity inside a sealed container without opening it.

Desiccator plugs both indicate and control humidity levels within the container.

Additional humidity indicator pie sector discs are also available in a variety of relative humidity levels from 10% to 90%, which can be inserted in the Humidity Indicator Plugs. Other Humidity Indicator cards are available as either spot type or single spot color-change discs.

COMPATIBILITY

Plugs are compatible with rigid-wall equipment and electrical housings, as well as most flexible barriers. Desiccator plugs are primarily designed for small containers, mechanical boxes or sealed instruments where space is limited. Plugs are adaptable to virtually all applications for Method II packaging of Mil-Std-2073-1D Method 50 and AS26860 aerospace specifications. Compact plugs are designed to be leak-resistant and temperature-proof, and to withstand shock and vibration.

PCB's should be vacuum packed in a width adequate desiccant and humidity indicator card.

  • PCB's should be packaged immediately after final inspection. The exposure time for the PCB prior to packaging should be minimized to eliminate the potential for moisture/volatile absorbtion as defined above.
  • Moisture Barrier bags must be hermetically heat sealed with an adequate seal width per manufacturers recommendations to ensure proper bag performance.
  • One humidity indicator card should be placed in the bag with the PCB's.
  • The HIC should be placed adjacent to the desiccant, not on top of the packet(s).
  • The amount of desiccant should provide protection for a minimum of one year.
  • Other packaging materials used in the bag will also have a moisture content. The moisture/volatile content of these materials must be considered in calculating the number of desiccant packets to be used.
