How to Use the Urine Bag

Connect the Urine Bag: Securely attach the threaded joint of the urine pipe to the urine collection bag. Ensure the connection is tight to prevent any leakage.

Hanging the Urine Bag: Suspend the urine collection bag beneath the bed or another position below the bladder level, using a hanging nylon rope or a suitable holding device.

Open the Urination Switch: Activate the urination switch on the urine collection bag to allow urine to flow smoothly into the bag.

Discharging the Urine: When the urine bag is full, first wash your hands thoroughly. Clean the mouth of the urine bag with an alcohol cotton ball, then open the mouth to discharge the urine. Once emptied, close the mouth of the urine bag and sanitize it again with an alcohol cotton ball to prevent infection.

Precautions for Using Urine Bags

Keep the Urine Bag Below Bladder Level:Always ensure the urine bag is positioned below bladder level to prevent urine reflux and potential infections.

Increase Water Intake:It is recommended to drink over 1500ml of water daily to promote urine production and discharge, helping reduce infection and blockage risks.

Maintain Local Cleanliness: Daily cleaning with normal saline and disinfection with iodophor around the urethral opening and other parts is essential to keep the area clean and dry, thereby reducing bacterial growth.

Regularly Change the Urine Bag:Follow the doctor's advice and change the urine bag regularly based on its material to prevent bacterial growth and infection.

Monitor Urine Levels:If the urine bag exceeds 700ml, empty it promptly to avoid discomfort or infection caused by excessive urine.

Fix the Urine Bag Properly:Ensure the urine bag is securely fixed to prevent excessive pulling or twisting that might damage the urethral mucosa.

Observe Body Reactions:Be vigilant for any adverse reactions such as pain at the urethral opening, cloudy urine, or systemic fever, as these may indicate an infection requiring immediate medical attention.
