Ammonium sulfate ((NH4) 2SO4) is a mass-produced product used primarily as an agricultural nitrogen fertilizer. In addition, there are many other niche applications, such as as a food additive and drinking water treatment.
(NH4) 2 SO4 is one of the earliest and most widely used nitrogen (N) fertilizers in crop production. Its high solubility provides versatility for many agricultural applications.
Ammonium sulfate is an inorganic substance, colorless crystals or white particles, odorless. Decomposition above 280°C. Solubility in water: 6.0g at 70°C, 8.100g at 103°C. Insoluble in ethanol. A 0.1mol/L aqueous solution has a pH of 5.5. The relative density is 1.77. Refractive index 1.521.
