A sensor is a detection device, a tool for obtaining information, or a machine for transmitting feelings. In the broadest definition, a sensor is a kind of equipment, module or subsystem, which is often used in automatic control and measurement systems.

A sensor can be interpreted as a device or device that can transform a measured physical quantity (such as speed, temperature, sound, light, etc.) into another physical quantity (usually electric quantity) that is convenient for transmission and processing. Sensors are commonly known as probes, and are sometimes called transducers, transducers, transmitters or detectors.


Composition of sensor

Sensors are generally composed of sensitive elements, conversion elements, signal conditioning circuits and auxiliary circuits, but not all sensors must include sensitive elements and conversion elements. If the sensitive elements directly output electricity, they also serve as conversion elements.

--Sensitive element (pre-converter): refers to the part of the sensor that can directly feel or respond to the measured (non-electric quantity) and output other quantities (non-electric quantity) which have a definite relationship with it.

--Conversion element: refers to the part of the sensor that can convert the measured signal felt or responded by the sensitive element into an available output signal (usually an electrical signal) suitable for transmission or measurement.

--Signal conditioning circuit: it is a circuit that can convert the electrical signal output by the conversion element into useful electrical signal which is convenient for display, recording, processing and control.

--Auxiliary circuit: usually refers to power supply, that is, AC and DC power supply system.
