Yg125 IDECO NOV BOMCO type Drilling Equipment Traveling Block
Traveling block and hook combination is used to safely and efficiently raise or lower tools and equipment in the well, raise or run strings of drill pipe and casing, or hold the power swivel on a workover rig. Our traveling block and hook are according to API Spec 8C.
A traveling block is the freely moving section of a block and tackle that contains a set of pulleys or sheaves through which the drill line (wire rope) is threaded or reeved and is opposite (and under) the crown block (the stationary section).
The combination of the traveling block, crown block and wire rope drill line gives the ability to lift weights in the hundreds of thousands of pounds. On larger drilling rigs, when raising and lowering the, line tensions over a million pounds are not unusual.
The hook is manly composed of barrel, hook body, hook rod and spring etc. In the barrel there are inner and outer springs which can make the pin of standpipe spring up backwards.
On the top of the barrel there is a safety positioning device. When lifting an empty elevator, the positioning device can stop the rotation of the hook body; when lifting a elevator with drill string, the positioning device no longer can stop the rotation of the hook body; the hook body can rotate freely.
