However, cast iron pulleys also have some drawbacks, such as the tendency for gray cast iron pulleys to shatter, the tendency for wheel rims to break, and a relatively short lifespan, making them more commonly used in lower working levels. In contrast, ductile iron pulleys have higher strength and impact toughness, making them suitable for cranes with higher working levels.
