As a rectifier device, it is used in power transformer called rectifier transformer. Most of industrial rectifier DC power receive from AC power grid which is made by rectifier transformers and rectifier equipment.
The function of rectifier transformer is especially supply for rectifier system.
1. Supplying appropriate voltage for rectifier system
2. Minimizing the power grid pollution which caused by waveform distortion in rectifying system
3. The main purposes of the rectifier transformer are as follows:
(1) Electrochemical industry: It's the most industries apply to rectifier transformer, electrolyze non-ferrous metal compounds for aluminum, magnesium, coppr and other metal.
(2) Traction with dc power supply: It is used in dc grid of mining or city electric locomotive dc. Due to the valve side joint overhead lines occur the short circuit fault always, dc load amplitude becomes larger and electric locomotive starts frequently, which will cause varying degrees of short time overload. Therefore, temperature rise and current density of rectifier transformer will achieve a lower limit. The impedance is about 30% greater than the corresponding power transformer.
(3) Transmission with dc power supply: It is mainly used in dc motor power supply in the electrical drive, such as the armature and excitation of rolling machine.
(4) DC transmission: In this kind of rectifier transformer, the voltage is usually at 110 above and the capacity is in mva or kva, which need to be pai attention to the problems of ac and dc superposition of insulation to the grounding. In addition, electroplating or electrical processing is used in DC power supply and DC power supply is used in excitation and for charging and electrostatic dust removal.
