Yellow crystalline powder,under alkaline conditions and in the presence of oxidant, it reacts with phenolic compounds to produce red dyes.
1. For the determination of alcohols and phenols and amines and their homologues. Determination of alkylphenol by chromatography.
2. Used as a chromogenic agent for spectrophotometric determination of phenols, alcohols and amines. It is also used as a reagent for the determination of phenolic compounds by polarography.
4-Aminoantipyrine is commonly used as an anti-asthma drug to relieve asthma symptoms by dilating bronchial smooth muscle. It acts as a β2-adrenergic receptor agonist, stimulating adrenergic receptors and promoting relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle, thereby reducing bronchospasm and inflammatory responses.
4-Aminoantipyrine can be prepared by the reaction of maleichol with α,α '-diaminocotyledonine. The reaction requires the presence of a solvent and a catalyst.
