Product Description
Punching is a method of cutting where a significant shearing force is applied to remove material from a sheet of metal. It is similar to blanking, but instead of discarding the removed material, known as the slug, it creates the desired internal feature in the sheet, such as a hole or slot. Punching is capable of producing holes and cutouts in various shapes and sizes. The most commonly punched holes are simple geometric shapes like circles, squares, and rectangles, either individually or in combination. Although the edges of these punched features may have some burrs from the shearing process, they generally have a satisfactory level of quality. To achieve smoother edges, additional finishing operations are typically carried out.
