Introduction:
AISI 4340 alloy steel is another alloy with superior mechanical properties. This material is available in the Annealed or Quenched and Tempered conditions. 4340 is widely used in industries including oil and gas exploration, gear manufactring etc.
 
Applications                                                                     
1.  AISI 4340 alloy steel is widely used in high-strength forgings, such as traction gear, supercharger drive gear,  rear axle, the load of connecting rod, spring clip; 
2. AISI 4340 alloy steel is also manufactured tool joints and finish tools which used for oil wells below 2000m deep.
 
Heat treatment                                                     
 
AISI 4340 alloy steel is heat treated at 830°C (1525°F) followed by quenching in oil.
