I. Overview
The core component of the MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) integrated wastewater treatment equipment is the membrane bioreactor (MBR). It represents a new wastewater treatment technology that combines membrane separation technology with biological technology.
In the MBR system, wastewater enters Area A, which is an anoxic zone with filler material for sufficient contact with the wastewater. Area O is an aerobic zone with filler material and aeration heads. The membrane tank contains membrane modules that use PVDF membranes to retain activated sludge and large organic molecules, eliminating the need for a secondary sedimentation tank. This results in a significantly increased concentration of activated sludge. Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT) and Sludge Retention Time (SRT) can be controlled separately. Difficult-to-degrade substances continue to react and degrade in the reactor, allowing the treated water to meet discharge standards or be reused after further treatment. Additionally, the air supplied to the MBR system is crucial in the process. It promotes fluid circulation within the reactor, enhances the degradation efficiency of activated sludge, and causes friction between hollow fiber membranes to clean the membrane modules.
