Seal Bearing IsolatorsCierne Seal Bearing Isolators permanently protect rotating equipment from contamination ingress and lubrication loss, significantly increasing equipment reliability, reducing maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime.
Bearing Isolator (Bearing Protector) is a kind of non-contact, non-wearing, permanent bearing protection device. It consists of a rotor and a stator, which are unitized by an O-ring, so that the two parts will not be separated during the operation. Typically, the rotor turns with the shaft, and the stator is pressed into the bearing housing. The two components interact to keep the pollutants out of the bearing housing and prevent the leakage of the lubricants , even when the equipment is shut down. The sealing performance of the Bearing Isolator will not degrade over time, which will enable it to provide life-time bearing protection for the rotating equipment.
All equipment must be thoroughly inspected before isolator installation. Disconnect the power supply from the system and follow all safe procedures to install the isolator. The shaft and hole should be properly chamfered to prevent scratch of the 0 ring. In the modification case, due to the wear of the lip oil seal, a groove will be left on the shaft. Attention should be paid to avoid the bearing isolator moving ring drive ring in the groove position. If the shaft has a keyway on the surface, care must be taken to avoid cutting the drive ring.
