Keyed shafts are products to standard industry tolerances from domestic steel rods.
Keyed shafts are used in a variety of applications and work in unison with rotating components to transmit motion. Keyed shafts can withstand torque and transfer power from motors and other components to drive units. A rotoary key seat is milled into the length of a shaft which is inserted into a bored part with an internal key way. Fully keyed shafting provides a good fit between the key and the keyway. A key is inserted between the keyed shaft and bored sleeve which prevents slippage and provides a substantial surface area of contact to manage forces applied in power transmission.
