Physical and chemical properties
1. Appearance: White powdery solid, delicate, odorless.
2. Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, its aqueous solution is commonly known as lime water, and its solubility decreases with increasing temperature. At 20 ºC, approximately 0.165 grams of hydrated lime can be dissolved in 100 grams of water. As the temperature increases to 100 ºC, the solubility decreases to around 0.077 grams.
3. Density: Approximately 2.211g/cm ³
4. Alkaline: It is a strong alkaline substance with alkaline properties.
5. Stability: It is easy to absorb carbon dioxide in the air and turn into calcium carbonate. Prolonged storage will react with carbon dioxide in the air, reducing the purity and quality of hydrated lime. Under high temperature conditions, hydrated lime will decompose into calcium oxide and water, with a decomposition temperature generally around 580 ºC.
