Paraffin is a kind of hydrocarbon mixture extracted from some distillates of petroleum, shale oil or other asphalt mineral oil.
Its main component is solid alkane, odorless and tasteless, and it is a white or yellowish translucent solid. Paraffin wax is amorphous, but it has obvious crystal structure.
Paraffin wax is a kind of petroleum processed products, a kind of mineral wax and a kind of petroleum wax.
It is a flaky or needle-like crystal obtained by solvent refining, solvent dewaxing, or wax freezing crystallization and press dewaxing of lubricating oil fraction obtained from crude distillation to obtain wax paste, and then solvent deoiling and refining.
Used to make higher fatty acids, higher alcohols, matches, candles, waterproofing agents, ointments, electrical insulation materials, etc. Paraffin wax can be divided into food grade (food grade and packaging grade, the former is superior) and industrial grade. Food grade is non-toxic and industrial grade is inedible.
