Sodium hydroxide, chemical formula is NaOH, commonly known as caustic soda, caustic soda, caustic soda, when dissolved, emits ammonia taste, is a highly corrosive strong alkali, generally in sheet or particle form, easy to dissolve in water (heat release when dissolved in water) and form alkaline solution, and delixability, easy to absorb water vapor in the air (delixation) and carbon dioxide (metamorphism). Sodium hydroxide can be used as alkaline cleaning agent in water treatment, soluble in ethanol and glycerol; Insoluble in propanol and ether. It also has a corrosive effect on sodium carbon at high temperature. Disproportionation reaction with chlorine, bromine, iodine and other halogen. Neutralizes with acids to produce salt and water.
