Cefixime Tablets 200mg
Composition:
Each tablet contains:
Cefixime USP 200 mg.
Therapeutic Activity:
Antibacterial of the third generation cephalosporin family.
Indications:
Typhoid fever in children.
Acute cystitis in girls over 2 years old and in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Acute pyelonephritis in adults.
Cervicitis and urethritis due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae (in combination with treatment against chlamydia).
Dosage:
On medical prescription.
Typhoid fever in children.
Child over 3 months: 20mg / kg / day to be divided into 2 doses.
Acute cystitis in girls over 2 years old, 8 mg / kg / day as a single dose.
Acute cystitis in pregnant or breastfeeding women, acute pyelonephritis in adults, 400 mg / day to be divided into 2 doses.
Cervicitis and urethritis due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Child: 8 mg / kg single dose.
Adult: 400 mg single dose.
Duration:
Typhoid fever: 7 days.
Acute cystitis: 3 days for the girl and 5 days for the adult.
Acute pyelonephritis: 10 to 14 days.
Contraindications, adverse effects, precautions:
-Do not administer in case of allergy to cephalosporins.
-Administer with caution in case of allergy to penicillins (possible cross-allergy) and severe renal impairment (reduce the dosage).
-May cause: digestive disturbances (diarrhea in particular), headache, dizziness, allergic reactions (skin rash, pruritus, fever). In the event of an allergic reaction, stop treatment immediately.
-Pregnancy: no contraindication.
-Breastfeeding: no contraindication.
