Sodium dithionite, commonly known as sodium hydrosulfite, also known as sodium hyposulfate, is a strong reducing agent in two forms: dihydrate salt and anhydrous salt. Dihydrate is a slightly yellow flake like crystal with extremely unstable chemical properties, only present in alkaline solutions. When heated to a certain temperature, it is dehydrated and converted into anhydrous salts; Anhydrous salt is a white crystalline powder that exists stably when dried at room temperature.
