MEK is an organic compound with chemical formula of CH3COCH2CH3 and molecular
weight of 72.11. It is a colorless transparent liquid. Volatile. It can be
miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene and oil.
MEK uses
1.Methy ethyl ketone is used as solvent for cellulose acetate, acrylic resin, alkyd resin, paint, ink,
etc., binder for dyes, dewaxing agent for lubricating oil, vulcanization accelerator, etc
2.MEK is used as a reagent for the determination of copper.
a standard substance for chromatographic analysis and a solvent for semiconductor lithography.
3.GB 2760-96 stipulates that it is allowed to use edible spices. Mainly used to make cheese,
coffee and banana essence. It can also be used as extraction solvent.
4.MEK is mainly used as a solvent, such as for lubricating oil dewaxing, coating
industry and various resin solvents, extraction process of vegetable oil and azeotropic distillation
of refining process. Its advantages are strong solubility, and it belongs
to middle boiling point ketone solvent. Butanone is also an intermediate for the preparation of
pharmaceuticals, dyes, detergents, perfumes, antioxidants and some catalysts. It is used as a
developer after integrated circuit lithography in the electronic industry to synthesize anti-peeling
agent methyl ethyl ketoxime, polymerization catalyst MEK peroxide, corrosion inhibitor methyl
pentynol, etc.
5.Methy ethyl ketone is the raw material for the preparation of the acaricide Pyrimid.
