Physical Properties
Appearance: colourless to yellow liquid with irritating odour.
Melting point: -17ºC to -17.7ºC (slightly different information).
Boiling point: 134ºC to 134.5ºC.
Density: 0.8647g/cm³(20/20ºC) or 0.867g/cm³(slightly different information).
Flash point: 26°C (CC) or 32.22°C (slight variation in different information).
Solubility: soluble in water, miscible in most organic solvents.
Third, chemical properties
Strong alkaline: pH value of 0.01% aqueous solution is 10.5.
Reactivity: it can react quickly with carbon dioxide in the air to produce white crystalline carbonate.
Other reactions: in the presence of high temperature, high pressure and catalyst, cyclohexylamine can be produced by hydrogen reduction of aniline; it can also be produced by amination reaction of cyclohexanol or cyclohexanone with ammonia.
Uses
Solvent: Cyclohexylamine itself is a solvent, which can be applied in resins, coatings, fats and paraffin oils.
Chemical auxiliaries: used in the preparation of desulfurisation agent, rubber antioxidant, vulcanisation accelerator (such as accelerator CBS), plastics and textiles chemical auxiliaries, boiler water treatment agent, metal corrosion inhibitors, emulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, anti-static agents, latex coagulants and so on.
Petroleum additives: used as additives for petroleum products.
Food additives: the sulfonate of cyclohexylamine is used as artificial sweetener in food, beverage and medicine, such as the synthesis of sweetener.
Other applications: also used in the manufacture of reactive dyes, softeners, as well as pesticides, pharmaceutical intermediates and so on.
