What is a threaded insert?
Thread inserts are cylindrical metal sleeves designed to reinforce and repair threaded holes. They provide a durable and wear-resistant thread within a softer material, such as aluminum, plastic, or wood. Thread inserts are commonly employed in industries where strong, lasting threads are essential, especially in high-stress applications like automotive, aerospace, and machinery manufacturing. They can also be used to repair stripped or damaged threads, restore functionality, and extend the life of the equipment. Available in various types, such as self-tapping, helical, and key-locking inserts, they cater to a wide range of needs, ensuring secure fastening and enhancing product performance.

Self-tapping thread inserts are fasteners featuring both internal and external threads, along with a cutting hole or groove. They are available in two materials: carbon steel and stainless steel. Carbon steel inserts are galvanized with finishes such as yellow, color, or blue zinc, while stainless steel inserts maintain their natural metal finish.
These inserts are placed into a pre-tapped hole, and the four latch pins are pressed in, providing a secure fastening. This product is commonly used in applications requiring high thread strength.
