A ball valve is a type of flow control device that uses a hollow, perforated, and rotatable ball to manage the flow of fluid. When the hole in the center of the ball aligns with the fluid inlet, the valve opens; rotating the ball 90 degrees with the valve handle closes the valve, halting the flow of fluid. By observing the position of the wrench handle, you can easily determine if the valve is open or closed. When the handle aligns parallel to the flow direction, the valve is open.
Fluid resistance is small, and its resistance coefficient is equal to that of a pipe section of the same length.
