They are called "elevator bolts" because they are often used to attach buckets to conveyor belts in grain elevators, which are used to transport grain and other materials vertically. These fanged elevator bolts were used to secure new sheets of plywood decking to a pontoon boat too. The fangs bite into the wood to keep the head of the bolt from the wood body. |
