Epimedium is also known as Xianling Spleen and Gangqian. The Shennong Herbal Classic is listed as the middle grade, which has the effects of tonifying kidney yang, strengthening muscles and bones, and removing wind dampness. It is used for impotence and spermatorrhea caused by kidney yang deficiency, weakness of muscles and bones, rheumatic arthralgia, numbness and contracture. It is a commonly used Chinese medicine in clinical practice. China is the geographical distribution center of Epimedium. There are 40 varieties of Epimedium, and there are 15 main kinds of medicinal materials, among which Epimedium E. brevicornum Maxim., Epimedium pubescens Maxim., Epimedium sagittatum Maxim. and Epimedium koreanum Nakai are the main original species in the 2015 edition of the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China.
