What is A Hanger Bolt?
A hanger bolt is a specialized type of fastener which is essentially a headless bolt. This means that it doesn't have a built-in head for turning with a screwdriver or wrench. Instead, it features two different types of threads:
1. Wood or Lag Thread: One end of the hanger bolt has wood or lag screw threads that are designed to screw into wood or a similar material. This allows for secure fastening into studs, beams, or wooden posts.
2. Machine Screw Thread: The other end of the hanger bolt has machine screw threads that are compatible with nuts or tapped holes in metal components. This provides a means to attach metal fixtures or hardware to the wooden base.
Hanger bolts are typically installed by screwing the wood thread into a pre-drilled hole in the wood. Then, whatever object or fixture is being mounted can be attached over the protruding machine thread and secured with a nut.
