Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless and non-irritating toxic gas at normal temperature and pressure, and is also flammable. Flammable in the air, it emits blue flame when burning, and forms explosive mixture after mixing with air, with the explosion limit range of 12.5.74.2%. Its relative density is 0.967 (air=1101.325KpaCarbon monoxide gas applictions:
1. Carbon monoxide can be used to produce sodium formate.
2. It is used as reducing agent in metallurgical industry, such as industrial reduction of iron oxide (preparation of iron).
3. It is used as gas fuel, such as water gas (mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen).

Protective measures for carbon monoxide:
Respiratory system protection: when the concentration in the air exceeds the standard, wear a self-priming filter gas mask (half mask). In case of emergency rescue or evacuation, it is recommended to wear air respirator and carbon monoxide filter self-rescue device.
Eye protection: no special protection is generally required. Wear safety glasses when exposed to high concentrations.
Body protection: wear anti-static work clothes.
Hand protection: wear protective gloves for general operation.
Other protection: smoking is prohibited at the work site. Carry out pre-employment and regular physical examination. Avoid high concentration inhalation.
