Stevia is a new natural sweetener refined from the herbaceous plant stevia (or stevia leaf) , which has been used as an herb and sugar substitute in South for centuries. According to the international sweetener industry, Stevioside has been widely used in food, beverage and condiment production in Asia, North , South and European Union. China is the world's leading producer of stevioside. It is 250-450 times sweeter than sucrose and has a slightly astringent taste.
