(+) -δ-tocopherol is an antioxidant. Vitamin E helps prevent the oxidation of Polyunsaturated fatty acid and phospholipids and thus maintains the integrity of cell membranes. May protect the vitamin A from the oxidation destruction, simultaneously strengthens its function, the vitamin E and the iodine compound. It has been shown to prevent the occurrence of symptoms associated with vitamin E deficiency. Some studies have shown an association with cancer prevention and anti-aging, but this has not been widely confirmed. Prevent the role of excessive platelet aggregation, improve the stability of red blood cell membrane and red blood cell synthesis.

Natural vitamin E is a mixture of four tocopherols derived from maternal tocopherol, including D-α-tocopherol, d-β-tocopherol, d-γ-tocopherol and d-δ-tocopherol, they all have saturated C16 side chains and differ only in the number and position of methyl groups on the benzene ring. Although their structures are very similar, their biological activities are different. They are d-α-tocopherol > d-β-tocopherol > d-γ-tocopherol > d-δ-tocopherol, and d-δ-tocopherol has the highest antioxidant activity.
